The Difference We Make

Below are just a small sample of the letters we receive from our charities that tell us the difference we make in the lives of veterans and children in need.

On behalf of the Fisher House in St Louis Board, please accept our heartfelt gratitude for your generous contribution. This entire amount will be used to care for families residing in the Fisher House at the Jefferson Barracks Campus of the St. Louis VA Medical Center. For the families who want to be at the bedside of their hospitalized Veteran or military member, few can afford the extended stays in commercial lodging to do so. Yet, their love, care, support and presence are essential to the healing and recuperation process. The Fisher House motto recognizes this necessity with their motto of: ". . . because a family’s love is good medicine.”

I am writing to recognize your generous support of $5000.00., in the 2017-2018 grant year. DASA was able to use this funding to support our Veteran programs in Functional Fitness and Snow skiing. We surpassed our goal of 10 veterans to serve 15 or more each month throughout the grant year. These veterans worked diligently to improve their fitness level and overall health. Josh and three others competed in a 5K run in April. This was a goal the veterans and their trainers had set and they accomplished! Without the support of The Kaufman Fund, disabled veterans and injured service members would not have the ability to participate in the weekly strength and fitness training offered by DASA or any other facility. The purchase of adaptive snow ski equipment and modified fitness equipment really helped promote success for the veterans in their endeavors to be active in sport and fifiless. More than 15 Veterans participated in four snow ski sessions with the help of adaptive and modified equipment.

Thank you again for your support.
Kelly Behlmann
